One Love Salone Foundation Participates in Global Tourism Resilience Day Commemoration.

Beneficiaries and students of One Love Salone Foundation attended the Global Tourism Resilience Day at the Tunde Cole Building, Fourah Bay College, Freetown on February 17, 2026. Organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, the event gathered students and tourism stakeholders to discuss resilience strategies. Programs included panel discussions, a student debate, and a drama under the theme “Tourism Resilience in Action: From Crisis Response to Impactful Transformation.” Our participants engaged actively, including during the panel Q&A. In her keynote, Minister Md. Nabeela Tunis urged collective, creative action to turn crises into opportunities and transform the tourism sector, which she said intersects all development sectors.
The Minister said tourism links agriculture to hospitality, conservation to community income, digital innovation to global visibility, and Sierra Leone’s painful past to a narrative of freedom and transformation. Creativity should drive growth: “Our music, dance, culture, storytelling, and museums are assets we are proud of.” Used well, they can attract visitors, create jobs, empower women, engage youth, and strengthen communities. Hon. Tunis said the 2026 celebration centers on youth-led tourism resilience and development, urging participants to spread the program’s message: “I am a young voice for tourism resilience.”

The Minister said Sierra Leone’s tourism sector has no discrimination; everyone has a productive role and God-given talents to be discovered and nurtured. She noted the UN declared 2027 the International Year of Sustainable and Resilient Tourism, urging tourism as a driver of development, inclusive growth, environmental protection, and social empowerment.
She urged youth to be active partners today in transforming tourism infrastructure, closing with the ministry’s slogan: “Tourism Bizness Na All Man Bizness.”
Attendance was monitored and will influence future sponsorships. We applaud participants and expect their continued involvement in promoting tourism resilience.
